Town Council Vacancy 


PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that two councilmember vacancies exist on the Town of Monument Town Council. The Council seeks to appoint qualified candidates to fill the vacancies. Qualified candidates must be citizens of the United States of America, registered electors of the Town, at least 22 years of age, and a resident of the Town for a period of no less than 24 consecutive months preceding the appointment. Additionally, qualified candidates must not have a felony conviction, must not be an employee of the Town (or shall be deemed to have resigned upon taking office), and must not hold any other elective position with a federal, state, county, special district, or municipal governmental entity. The appointed candidate will serve until the next regular municipal election and the term of office of their successor has commenced (January 6, 2025). Persons seeking appointment must submit a letter of interest, résumé, and notarized affidavit affirming they meet all qualifications for appointment to the Town Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on January 30, 2023. Person seeking appointment are encouraged to attend the Town Council meeting scheduled for February 6, 2023, at 6:30 PM at Monument Town Hall (645 Beacon Lite Road) where candidates may be interviewed.

The Planning Commission (PC) consists of seven members appointed by the Board of Trustees. The Planning Commission meets once a month to make recommendations on land use applications and land use related ordinances before they are heard by the Board of Trustees.            
The Board of Adjustment (BOA) is a volunteer Board of five members appointed by the Town Council, including one representative from the Council and one representative from the Planning Commission. The Board of Adjustment meets on an "as needed" basis to hear and rule on variances to the Town's Zoning Regulations.
