Learn About the Town’s Elections

Town elections are held in November of even numbered years and are coordinated and administered by El Paso County. Coordinated elections include those for Board of Trustee representatives, possible ballot questions or issues, and referred ordinances or resolutions. The Board of Trustees may also call a special election, if deemed necessary, by resolution or ordinance for any Tuesday outside of certain parameters of proximity to a regularly, general, or primary election. The Town Clerk is the designated election official for the Town of Monument.

Town of Monument Regular Election - November 8, 2022

The Town of Monument will hold a Regular Municipal Election on November 8, 2022. The election will be conducted as a coordinated mail ballot election administered by El Paso County.   Qualified electors must be 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, a Colorado resident for at least 22 days prior to the election, a resident of the Town of Monument, and registered to vote.  A designated Voter Services Polling Center (VSPC) for this election will be located at Monument Town Hall (645 Beacon Lite Rd) and will be open on Election Day from 7am to 7pm.  


The Mayor seat currently held by Don Wilson and the Trustee seats currently held by Kelly Elliott, Ron Stephens, Darcy Schoening, Redmond Ramos, will be filled at this election. The Mayor candidate receiving the highest number of votes will be elected to a term of four years. Three Trustee candidates receiving the first, second, and third highest number of votes will be elected for a term of four years.  One Trustee candidate receiving the fourth highest number of votes will be elected to a term of two years.

Proposed Charter Election

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that, pursuant to C.R.S. § 31-2-207, the Town of Monument shall submit to the registered electors of the Town of Monument the following ballot question:  

Shall the proposed charter, as drafted by the Town of Monument Home Rule Charter Commission, be adopted as the home rule charter for the Town of Monument?

 Voter Registration and Election Information

Information on voter registration and updating your registration is available at www.GoVoteColorado.gov. Colorado allows you to register to vote through Election Day. The timeframe when you register, though, may affect the method by which you can vote.

  1. If you register to vote online at least 8 days before an election, you will be MAILED a ballot.
  2. After the 8th day before an election, you must visit a Voter Service & Polling Center or the El Paso County Elections office to register and receive a ballot in person.
  3. If you register to vote through a voter registration drive, your application must be submitted no later than 22 days before an election.
  4. El Paso County will maintain 37 secure 24-hour ballot drop box locations. The closest locations for Monument voters are Monument Town Hall (645 Beacon Lite Road) and the Monument Park and Ride (Woodmoor Drive and I-25).
